Classroom Expectations
The Hoyt expectations are that all will SOAR (Safety, Order, Achievement, Respect) in classes, hallways, and school areas. The posted classroom rules reflect these expectations. Students are to listen and follow directions (Safety,) quiet down when instruction begins (Order,) participate to the best of their ability (Achievement,) and respect classmates, teacher, and self (Respect.)
Grading Policy
In accordance with the Hoyt grading policy, grades in Global Studies are determined solely by performance on tests, quizzes, and other forms of assessment, including daily writing prompts. Students are not graded on participation, practice, or extra credit. Homework and practice work are monitored but cannot be included in the grade book. Tests, quizzes, and other assessments can always be redone to improve a grade, but class time will not be used for this. Students need to study the material before retesting, then schedule a time with Mr. Verdon to take the test. Missed assessments can be made up through the end of the semester without penalty.
